Evening Speaker meeting with John Ash

Tue, Aug 31st 2021 at 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The Sirius Dog Sledge Patrol. Partners and guests welcome.

John Ash in the Arctic

In a remote part of the Arctic, members of the Danish armed forces patrol the margin of the largest island in the world using sledges pulled by dog teams.  They are members of one of the most unusual special forces units in the world, and the dogs are an essential part of the organisation.  This lecture explores the history of the Sirius Dog Sledge Patrol.  It describes how it operates in one of the most challenging environments on the planet, and examines why such ancient transport technology still has a role in the 21st Century.
