Youth Artist Competition

Results of local district Competition

During lockdown, Ashford Rotary Club continued to promote the RIBI annual youth competitions.

Ludo's artwork of an  Okapi where he had very cleverly incorporated it's natural habitat into it's body to try and demonstrate why the Okapi is now extinct in the wild took 1st prize in the Intermediate age group of Young Artist at club level and was highly commended at District level.

Jude's painting of a Polar Bear took 2nd place in the Intermediate age group at club level and again was highly commended at District level.

Young Artist is one of a number of competitions that RIBI run every year. There are 3 age categories 7-10, 11-13 and 14-17 as at 31st
August. Entry is open to any young person via their local Rotary Club and winning entries locally are put through to District with District
winners entered into a National competition.

Other competitions open to young people include Young Chef, Young Musician, Young Writer, Young Environmentalist, Young Filmmaker and Young Photographer, Youth Speaks: A Debate and a Technology Tournament.

The competition themes are announced every summer and all entries need to be with the local Rotary Club by 31st December.

The Young Citizen Award is for anyone under 25 years of age.

RIBI also offer a number of youth programmes for schools to get involved in. Locally we have Rotakids clubs in 3 of our primary schools with an Interact club in one of our secondary schools. There are also opportunities to take part in the Young Leadership Award and Youth Exchange.

If any of these activities are of interest please do not hesitate to contact us for more information and maybe get involved. All details can
