During lockdown, Ashford Rotary Club continued to promote the RIBI annual youth competitions.
Ludo's artwork of an Okapi where he had very cleverly incorporated it's natural habitat into it's body to try and demonstrate why the Okapi is now extinct in the wild took 1st prize in the Intermediate age group of Young Artist at club level and was highly commended at District level.
Jude's painting of a Polar Bear took 2nd place in the Intermediate age group at club level and again was highly commended at District level.
Young Artist is one of a number of competitions that RIBI run every year. There are 3 age categories 7-10, 11-13 and 14-17 as at 31st
August. Entry is open to any young person via their local Rotary Club and winning entries locally are put through to District with District
winners entered into a National competition.
Other competitions open to young people include Young Chef, Young Musician, Young Writer, Young Environmentalist, Young Filmmaker and Young Photographer, Youth Speaks: A Debate and a Technology Tournament.
