Our Rotary Gold Logo is definitely not pure gold but is still very precious to us!
This (recycled – 2nd time) President has been watching the amazing athletes at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, finally able to take place!
As I am writing, my adrenaline levels are sky high - I am virtually navigating the white-water slalom with the canoeists! And this is a teaser for our Sidekicks’ SILVER PROPELLOR CHALLENGE.
But more of that later, as the message for this week is related to recycling.
I discovered the Tokyo gold medals have been made from 78,985 tons of recycled electronics, including 6.21million mobile phones collected from Japanese citizens – a huge recycling project in comparison to our planned small project with the Wilsden Youth Volunteer Scheme.
And this week the subject of our talk by Richard White of Bracken Hall Countryside Centre today was “How to save the world in 25 minutes”. Over the long and difficult Covid months, we have all realised that we can, actually, change our behaviour. So now is the perfect time to reflect on how we as individuals SHOULD change before we slip back into our old ways.
Why not join me in making a list of how I CAN change, before I decide if I WANT TO change – and there is the dilemma!
When our daughter was able to visit for the first time for 18 months and the rest of the family gathered to see her, our house became a home again!
Despite our detailed plans and risk assessments, the time is not yet right to go back to face to face meetings, but we’ll get there sooner rather than later.
I have made a few in my first week as president, even though I should do better the second time around. As very often the case, it is due to miscommunication, not paying close enough attention to what is being said or going on around us.
