JOHN VARDY MEMORIAL AWARDS

Each year our club presents two students with our John Vardy Memorial Awards.
John Vardy OBE was the founder of our club in 1937 and we remember him by giving two of our local high school students a cash award to help them on their H E journey

This years awards were presented at our lunch meeting on September 28 at Haydock Park Golf Club. Presentations were made by President Geoff to student Violet Senghore (Golborne High School. Violet was accompanied by Jonathon Hughes (Head of year teacher) and to Safia Wright (Hope Academy) who was accompanied by teacher Charlie Wignall deputising for Beth Houghton.

Violet Senghore was also accompanied by her Grandparents – both former teachers.

Teachers of both students provided the meeting with a summary of the achievements of their students and the contributions they made to school life. Each student responded by indicating their subject choices for further education and an outline of their own career ambitions as well as thanking the Club for their awards.
