Hythe Business & Tourism Association (HBTA) and Hythe Rotary have formed a close working relationship to look at issues which affect all of us, especially where we believe can make a difference. We will also work closely with Hythe Town Council and organisation’s such as Hythe Civic Society (HCS), Hythe Life and other local business enterprises. Independently it will be business as usual for each of us.
We call it “Planning for the Future”.
We have several projects in our initial drive including issuing welcome packs to new homeowners and companies to our town, creating a Town Diary to ensure events don’t compete, and helping other ventures such as ‘Hythe in Bloom’ and the Parish of St Leonard’s new ‘Open Door’ community hub project at 101 High Street.
Our main project, though, is very different. We want to work with Brockhill Park Performing Arts College (and Kent Education Authority) to help students leaving the College to learn about and gain experience of how our world works and what it is like to be in paid employment. Full details of this initiative will be published, but they will not impose undue pressures on anyone. Rotary has paved the way with its THYNK (Things You Need to Know) project, but there is nothing like experiencing new challenges face to face.
These students are our workforce, shoppers and families of the future and are going to need all of the help they can get, to enable them to mature and in turn become responsible and constructive citizens. No one knows what the new normal will be, so whatever helping hand we can offer will be of great value.
We are not asking for money, nor to join either of our organisation’s, simply for you to find time to work with us as part of our community to keep our town secure and a great place to be.
