Visit to Longfield Hospice, Minchinhampton

Wed, Oct 20th 2021 at 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

An opportunity to learn more of their work.

"Dear Members of the Rotary Club,

I would like to say a massive 'thank you' for donating the funds for our lovely new couch – it is smashing! We were able to pick complementing colours which helps the room  look inviting and relaxing, and feedback from patients has been that they are really comfy, they are very easy to use, and importantly easy to clean.

It better enablea people with mobility issues to more easily use them as they 'lower down ' closer to the ground, and handy little things like the hand controls are magnetic and stick to the frame on top of the couch, which makes our jobs as Therapists that bit easier (we all know how frustrating it is when lose our telly remote controls at home!!). They move smoothly and quietly and all the therapists like using them.

We currently have around 40 patients, carers and bereaved individuals on our therapy caseload, and are working hard to try to see them. People really value the relaxation and feelings of wellbeing they receive from the simple, yet important arts of touch therapies we practise here, (aromatherapy, massage, reflexology and Reiki.)

So, on behalf of Sam, Sharon and our wonderful team of Complementary Therapy Volunteers, and of course our amazing patients, we say a 'thank you' again for your generosity. The couch has made a wonderful contribution to the support and treatment of our patients.

Keep in touch!

Kind Regards

Rachel.   Head of Marketing.

Dave Sollis who organised the visit commented that we had a very enjoyable visit to Longfield hospice on the 20th . We were made most welcome and as well as been shown the bed Rotary gave we had a full tour of the home.
