Guest speaker John Scott uses his angling experience to tell of the work of the Tweed Commission
Last Thursday, members enjoyed an interesting talk on the Tweed Commission by former police inspector and keen fisherman John Scott.
He told the company of Sir Walter Scott's early influence on governance of the Tweed, of salmon migration, netting on the Tweed, and the activity of other river dwellers such as otters.
Among the many questions asked were queries on how the Tweed Commission was funded to carry out its work and the potential impact of Hawick's flood protection scheme on the local river system.
Sandy Bannerman gave the vote of thanks.
