Year 5 Pupils at North Wootton Academy

Dictionaries 4 Life

For some years now the three Rotary Clubs in King’s Lynn have donated copies of the excellent Usborne Illustrated Dictionaries to children in local primary schools.  The Rotary Club of King’s Lynn normally provides some 300 of the dictionaries to Year 5 children.  When the scheme started some ten years ago they were given to children in Year 6 but because they are so useful the teachers suggested Year 5 would be better as the children would have them for two years before they transferred to secondary schools.

In 2020 because of the Covid restrictions the books were delivered to the schools but we were not able to present them to the children as we would normally do. However we did ask the Headteachers to tell their pupils something about the commitment of the Rotary Club of King’s Lynn to helping local communities and charities.  This year we hope to be able to present the books to each Year 5 pupil in an assembly.  The first school to be visited recently was North Wootton Academy.
