An update from QVS Interact Group
Interactors have been busy getting back into their Duke of Edinburgh expeditions after COVID delays and have really enjoyed the challenges of planning their expeditions and working together as a team in the great outdoors with Mr Newham, Mr McGeechan Miss Crozier and the D of E team.
As well as this, they have been raising awareness of Youth Mental Health by holding a fantastic 'Hello Yellow' day, where all staff and students showed up in the brightest of gear to show awareness and raise funds for this very worthwhile cause.
Throughout September, QVS ran a Steptember Challenge, with all Tutor groups competing to be as active as possible across the month and managed to walk all the way to Rome as a school!
Mr Renwick and his Allotmenteers have been very busy with their Sustainability project and have raised a wide variety of crops in their polytunnel. It was great to be able to hand them over to Start Up Stirling to support this local charity with fresh fruits and vegetables grown right here at QVS
The school has also held a variety of activities through COP26, with our students engaging in cross-curricular events looking at all aspects of this very important event, and getting the chance to develop their own thoughts and ideas about sustainability and looking after the planet.
S5 Lily O'Neill is running a very successful campaign to create more awareness of Dementia at QVS and has started from the top, training all four of the Senior Leadership Team as Dementia Friends and working to bring the staff of all four boarding houses on board next. The Interactors are working with Breda and friends from the Memory Cafe to provide more Christmas Hampers this year and are excited to support this very worthwhile local initiative
Finally, the S6 Interactors have run a QVS Winter Warmer campaign to collect warm coats and jackets for the referral team at Babes in the Wood in Stirling to ensure that children in need have access to warm and cosy winter clothes. The students would like to thank the teachers and parents at QVS for their generous donations and look forward to being able to support more local charities across the coming year
