ROTARY NAILSEA & BACKWELL has been supporting local Carers and Young Carers Organisations for very many years, largely by giving financial support. This includes taking Young Carers on activities to such as Kids Out, Air Hop and Cattle Country: activities chosen by the Young Carers themselves, activities which give them the chance to be children again, even if only for a short time.
ROTARY NAILSEA & BACKWELL has also sponsored a weekly group get together as well as financing items of equipment, or specific expenditure needed for individuals or groups of individuals. It has worked with YCDT (see details below) to support a Young Carer through an educational support programme to help that Young Carer recover from progress lost due to the caring responsibilities.
CARERS ARE NOT ALONE. For Help, Advice, Support or for Contact with fellow carers you are welcome to contact the organisations that we work with:
Alliance Homes: North Somerset Carers Support: to find out more about their services and for details on how to contact them click here.
Backwell & Nailsea Support Group for Carers: this group meets monthly at the WI Hall in Backwell and holds drop-in sessions at 65 High Street, Nailsea.
The Young Carers Development Trust: this charity tackles the lack of opportunity experienced by many Young Carers due to their caring responsibilities. For details click here.
These local Carers’ organisations also get involved with Nailsea Charity Walks & Runs (organised by Rotary Nailsea & Backwell) with their friends and supporters – and members of the public - walking or running and getting sponsored to raise money for their favourite cause. For information on Nailsea Charity Walks & Runs 2022 (Sunday 19th June or a time of your choosing until 31st July) click here.
