Club unveils tribute to the late Prince Philip

Two of Barrow's Rotary Clubs got together to commemorate the life of the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

The memorial was unveiled by Martin McLeavy, President of the Rotary Club of Furness, and Helen Dixon, President of the Rotary Club of Furness Peninsula.

The project was kindly supported by BAE Submarines, Burlington Stone (part of the Holker Group), The Stone Workshop Ltd., and Mr R. Jackson.

The tribute takes the form of an oak tree, and is protected by a purpose made frame with coronet top designed and made by Mr Jackson, artisan blacksmith from Urswick.

The memorial is finished off by a slate commemorating the Duke's life. The slate was provided by Burlington Stone and shaped by The Stone Workshop Ltd, Ulverston.

The clubs wish to thank all those who helped to provide this memorial, which is sited in Coronation Gardens, Abbey Road, Barrow in Furness.
