Supporting our local Foodbank
We have a very active and supportive Foodbank in Newtown, run by the Salvation Army
During lockdown members of the Club donated the money that would have been spent on meals during meetings, to our local Foodbank. We bought food regularly at Morrisons and were supported by a District Grant from Rotary to donate £200 worth of food per month to help towards the provision of food for those in difficult circumstances. Now the Club continues to donate £250 per month to the Foodbank to help keep it in a position to help families and individuals in need in difficult times.
The Salvation army Foodbank has supported hundreds of families in the last few years and we are very happy to support their efforts to make life a little easier for people in need from loss of jobs, illness, breakup of families and any situation that puts a strain on finances.

Newtown Food Bank is urging people who can donate food or money to do so in order to help others in the town.
The food bank, which is lead by The Salvation Army in town, has urged those who are in need of food for themselves or their family due to their circumstances to contact them, while also asking those who are shopping and can afford it, to buy extra food to donate to it.
Anyone who needs food has to be referred to the food bank before they can receive any.
"If you are in real crisis and in need of food, then one of the local agencies can refer you to Newtown Food Bank, or you can give us a call on 01686 610340," said a food bank statement.
It is also urging people donate food or money to help those in ned.
"Newtown Food Bank relies solely on your goodwill and donations," said the statement.
