Rotary House, Scarborough

In 1972 the Club purchased Rotary House, a property overlooking Peasholm Park. In collaboration with Leeds Kidney Research Unit, it was converted for holiday use by families with a member on dialysis. It was the first such bespoke holiday home in the country, if not the world. Under the Club’s stewardship this property continues to be used for local charitable purposes today.

In the 1980’s the Club devised the Carers Holiday whereby Clubs from across Yorkshire would nominate people who are unpaid carers to loved ones for some respite ‘pampering’ in Scarborough. The Club arranges accommodation, hospitality and a programme of activities during their stay.

The carers are able to share their experience with others in a similar situation and return home re-energised.

Rotary Club of Scarborough

back The Club was founded in October 1921 and was granted a Charter in December of that year. Our Club has a great tradition and pedigree and we can justifiably be proud of what we have and continue to achieve locally and internationally.
