Supporting Ukraine

with supplies of warm clothing.

Rotarians Emilia Merenmies and John Midgley together with Tim Dickinson left for Ukraine on 11th February with donations of warm clothing, generators and Aquaboxes. These are to be distributed to those in need in Ukraine via several Rotary Clubs in Ukraine where Emilia and John have made contact on previous visits.

Pictured is Tim with the van loaded with supplies collected by our members, relatives and friends. We put out a newsletter to our Friends of Rotary and the response was amazing. A big thank you to everyone who contributed. We will update you as soon has we have information back from Ukraine.

We are providing immediate support to Ukraine in the following ways to give as much help as we can as soon as possible to the refugees from Ukraine.

Through our e-group we are supporting Focus4Hope by collecting donated goods that they will ship out to affected areas. Please contact Trish using the form on this page for up to date info regarding their needs and to arrange drop off or collection.

We are now helping refugees arriving in the local area with necessities, essential to them settling here.

The Rotary Club of Malton and Norton have an arrangement with the Rotary Club of Bartoszyce-Lidzbark Warminski in Poland who are already supporting refugees who are arriving in their area without anything, by buying and supplying them with what they need. Money can be transferred directly into the bank account of the Polish Rotary Club. This way the needs of the refugees can be identified straight away and they can quickly be supplied with what they need. UPDATE Feb 23. The greatest needs now are with those in Ukraine who need to be able to keep warm during lengthy power cuts - see above.
