Young Writer District Winners 2022

The theme set this year was "Environment"

Abigail King (Young Writer competition, Intermediate Winner) and Rotarian Jane Cooper (District organiser, Young Writer competition)

Senior Category (for students aged 14 - 17 years)

Winner: Flora Burleigh, Our Lady of Sion School (sponsored by Worthing Rotary Club)

The judges thought her work was an interesting and imaginative piece of writing, comparing ruining the environment with unruly teenagers.

Intermediate Category (for students aged 11 - 13 years)

Winner: Abigail King, Manor House School (sponsored by Bookham & Horsley Rotary Club)

The judges thought her writing had a slightly different slant.  It was well written and composed with a good twist to emphasise the environmental theme.

    Junior Category (for students aged 7 - 11 years)

    Winner: Phoebe Gamblen, Easebourne Primary (sponsored by Midhurst & Petworth Rotary Club)

    Judges thought her work was unusual as it depicted two grannies setting off to make environmental changes reflecting the idea that older people can be just as concerned as teenagers.
