The Rotary Club of Dun Laoghaire was founded and chartered in 1965. It is a member club of Rotary International, District 1160, with 72 great clubs throughout the whole island of Ireland. We are all enjoying ourselves while serving our community and making a difference
For over fifty years our Club has been actively engaged in promoting and managing projects for the benefit of local communities and global causes. See below, our activities vary across a range from established Rotarian programs to emerging local and international needs.
We are a small club with about twenty members from four countries including a number of manufacturing, academic, business, and administrative leaders. As with Rotary across the world our membership is open to women and men. The first woman to become Club President in our club was in 2005 followed by a number of other distinguished women over the last 15 years.
With a population of 207,000, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown is the 4th largest city in the Republic. It has one of the largest ports in Ireland and with three sailing Clubs and a lovely seafront - it is both a business and a tourism hub. With many vacation and business visitors to the region, our club is ready to welcome visiting Rotarians to our weekly dinner meetings. We are also ready to meet others who may consider joining the Club and are prepared to participate in our activities.
Our meetings are pleasant affairs with working groups reaching out to support local, national and international communities in worthwhile projects.
Our objective in the Rotary Club of Dun Laoghaire is to provide service above self, based on our fellowship and our relationship with the community.
