Supporting Young Doctors

Rotary supported the Young Doctors awards at the Hampshire Hospitals Trust Awards

Another day, another venue to show Rotary sponsorship in the community - this time Junior Doctors Awards at Winchester University. Neil Francis did the club proud in his introduction, telling the assembled medics how Basingstoke Deane Rotary had fundraised for the cardiac machine before moving on to read the nominations and announcing the winners.

Unfortunately, the Basingstoke Patient Champion was on duty and could not come (someone’s got to man the hospital!) but Neil was able to award the Rotary prize for the Junior Doctor Unsung Hero. It was amazing to see how genuinely humble the winners were when their names were announced.
Having talked to some of the trainee doctors, and listened to them describe their working day, all we can say is God Bless the NHS and thank goodness that these young people are willing to dedicate their life helping others. As we said our goodbyes, the Chief Medical Officer thanked Rotary for their contribution towards the much needed cardiac machine. A fundraising job well done!
