Aberdeen Deeside Rotary members take pride in their Community Service Projects. One such project initiated in the Summer of 2021 and continued in the Summer of 2022 was to identify all the public benches in the Cults, Bieldside and Milltimber areas of the city together with those in Peterculter with a view to repainting them.
This was done with the blessing of Aberdeen City Council whose Environmental Services Department supplied the paint and brushes for the project. Having identified the benches a preparatory group washed scrubbed and scraped, in some cases years of, grime from the benches. Once dry, a follow up group finished preparation by sanding down and then painting.

"It is fantastic to see Cults Bieldside & Milltimber Community Council and Rotary Aberdeen Deeside come together to clean, paint and brighten up the public benches in Cults, Bieldside, Milltimber and Culter. Aberdeen City Council are delighted to be able to support this brilliant community initiative with the supply of materials. This is community partnership on show at it’s very best with local people coming together to make a real difference to their local area. Well done to everyone involved!"

"I was so touched to see that your club has painted my late mother-
in-law’s bench on the railway line in Peterculter. I walk the line every
morning and I knew I had to do something about it. What a wonderful
surprise at 8 this morning to see it had been beautifully
done by your members! I am very grateful. Best wishes and thanks."
