Removal of COVID-19 restrictions allows Young Musician Competition to take place once again

Young Musician – Senior Instrumentalist winner - Fraser Hannah

At the end of April 2022, Kirkcudbright Academy, working with Kirkcudbright Rotary Club, staged their annual Rotary Young Musician competition. Organised and led by Kirkcudbright Academy music teachers Hannah Gill and Emma Irving, the competition attracted twenty one young people from S1’s through to S6’s. The competition was divided into three categories, the Junior Young Musician won by Ben Hodson, the Senior Singer Carmen Cluckie and the Senior Instrumentalist Fraser Hannah. A wide variety of instruments and a mixture of songs and styles made for an evening of enjoyment and delight.

Kids Out 2022

Every June, Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland get together with KidsOut take over 25,000 disadvantaged children on a fun day out. In Dumfries and Galloway, we join in.

This is an annual summer event organised by the Kirkcudbright Rotary Club to raise money for charities. Run by volunteers, costs are kept to a minimum so that almost all the money raised goes directly to the charities themselves.
