Community Chest

Each the Club invites applications for grants form local organisations.

2022 Community Chest Awards

This year the club received applications from 15 organisations. They asked for grants for up to £200.

All applications were successful and the club awarded a total of £2991.

The organisations which applied were:

Child's Vision

Supporting Children through domestic abuse.

New marketing/advertising literature.

1st Sittingbourne (S.A.) Scout Group

A new 4 person tent - to replace equipment damaged to value of £5K during the pandemic.

Sittingbourne Community First Responders

CFRs are trained by the ambulance service to attend life threatening emergencies.

Training resources, aids and materials, including in particular a "choking" training vest


Accredited domestic abuse service in Swale. 

To pay for a year's mobile phone costs for the Counselling Coordinator who triages these families.

Swale CVS 

Provides support for the voluntary and communiity sector. Also operate a community transport scheme.

To pay for advertising to widen awareness  of the community transport scheme recruit new drivers due to 50% fall in numbers due to pandemic - 

The Poppy Club

Social club for retired and semi-retired (mostly widows on a limited budget). 

To provide an afternoon tea at the August meeting with a 40s theme, which will also be their jubilee celebration

Imago Community - Kent Young Carers

Supports children aged caring for a family member with a disability, long term health condition, mental health or a substance misuse issue. 

Funding to provide a a picnic lunch with themed crafts and games to play for families struggling financially.

Friendly Faces of Kent

To support adults who are isolated and lonely 

To fund Sittingbourne book club project to buy paperbacks and ebooks for house bound members. 

Milton and Fulston Utd FC

Community based football club 

Need to buy clothing to keep the new under 7s team warm and dry in winter - rain jackets and/or tracksuit tops.

4th Milton & Regis (St Mary's) Scout Group

Scout Group with Beavers, Cubs and Scouts (100 young people) 

Recently relocated to new premises and require secure outside storage for the equipment used at weekly meetings.

Companionship at Christmas

Provides a Christmas dinner and companionship for residents in Swale who would  be alone at Christmas

The grant would pay for letters to their clients personally and explain that this year Companionship will be happening, to be printed and sent out, plus gifts for the clients and volunteers that attend.

Swale Gloves Amateur Boxing Club

To help fund a defibrillator to be kept available during sessions.

Swale Pride

Support and champion the LGBTQ+ community of all the Swale area

Towards annual Pride event. Swale Pride running costs i.e. annual accounts filing via accountants support

Sittingbourne Ladies 1sts

Give opportunity for young girls and ladies to play competitive football throughout Kent and London

Grant towards 1st aid kit and supplies and new match balls.

Historical Research Group of Sittingbourns

Champions research into the town's heritage and manages the volunteer stewards in the Heritage Hub in the Forum. 

Would like to again purchase professional Zoom to enable sharing documents/presentations during online meetings and breakout sessions, enabling hybrid meetings for those who wish to remain at home.
