Young Chef

Cooking amongst young people is a growing interest, and a valuable life skill. The Rotary Young Chef is a competition which develops this skills.

YOUTH lies at the very heart of Gosport Rotary Club's work in the community.

The Portsmouth Area Young Chef competition is run by Gosport Rotary Club, with support from Havant Rotary Club, and the 2022 event was held at Havant and South Downs College.

The youngsters prepare in two hours a healthy, three-course meal comprising a starter, main course and a dessert for two people which costs less than £20.

In the competition, Gosport was well represented by Danni from Brune Park School (pictured bottom right), along with Zoe and Daisy from Bay House School (pictured bottom left).

The standard of food was amazing, and there was a feeling of quiet professionalism in the kitchen. Alana from Havant and South Downs College won the competition, with Danni third. Both went forward to the regional finals. Zoe (pictured above) won a prize for her table display.
