A very informative evening walk

On Tuesday the 9th of August, on a wonderful summer's evening, club members were given a guided tour of the Greenfield Valley Heritage Park, near Holywell.

We were guided on the one mile walk by Roberta Owen, one of the many volunteer trustees of the Heritage Park working together with Flintshire County Council in preserving this heritage site that dates back to 1776. There are very many historic mills/factories within the valley that produced various industrial products of the time, using mainly copper and brass supplied by other factories within the North Wales area. It is intended that in ten years time that all the Valley’s scheduled monuments will be accessible to the public with funded programmes to ensure that they are retained for future generations.

Members present then travelled to The Chery Pie Inn, Nannerch for a very enjoyable meal and fellowship.

Thank you Roberta for the informative walk and to David MJ for organising the event.

Ar nos Fawrth y 9fed o Awst, ar noson fendigedig o haf, cafodd aelodau’r clwb daith dywys o amgylch y Parc Treftadaeth Dyffryn Maes Glas, ger Treffynnon.

Cawsom ein tywys ar y daith gerdded o tua milltir o hyd gan Roberta Owen, un o ymddiriedolwyr gwirfoddol y Parc Treftadaeth sydd yn cydweithio â Chyngor Sir y Fflint i warchod y safle treftadaeth hwn sy’n dyddio’n ôl i 1776. Mae yna lawer iawn o felinau/ffatrïoedd hanesyddol yn y dyffryn a oedd yn cynhyrchu cynnyrch diwydiannol amrywiol y cyfnod, gan ddefnyddio copr a phres yn bennaf a gyflenwir gan ffatrïoedd eraill yn ardal Gogledd Cymru. Bwriedir ofewn deng mlynedd y bydd holl henebion cofrestredig y Dyffryn yn hygyrch i’r cyhoedd gyda chyllid rhaglenni i sicrhau eu bod yn cael eu cadw ar gyfer cenedlaethau’r dyfodol.

Yna teithiodd yr aelodau oedd yn bresennol i'r Chery Pie Inn, Nannerch am bryd o fwyd a chymrodoriaeth bleserus iawn.

Diolch Roberta am y daith cerdded addysgiadol ac i David MJ am drefnu'r digwyddiad.
