CLASSIC CAR SHOW IN HALL PARK, RUSHDEN

Thousands of visitors from near and far came to Hall Park Rushden on Sunday, August 7th to enjoy the sight of more that 400 classic cars and bikes, all in showroom condition.

The Show moved to Hall Park after 7 years at the Castle Fields in Higham Ferrers where it was Rushden Chichele Rotary Club’s main fund raiser. Some £30,000 was raised by the Higham event over the years which Rotary used to support a number of local charities and organisations including providing a Heart Monitor for Kettering Hospital.

Last year the Rotary Club joined with the Rushden Historical Transport Society and moved the Show to Hall Park. In all the years of putting on the Show it has never been threatened by the weather. In fact last year’s drizzle was the only time rain has fallen. This year conditions were perfect once more.
Visitors were able to enjoy seeing and talking to the proud owners of classic cars of all ages, rarity, sizes and value. There were also 30 stalls selling food, drink and a wide range of other items and finally there was a fly past by a BBMF Hurricane.

The organisers were grateful for the patience of local residents who were inconvenienced for most of the day. The main car park and the overflow car park were both filled to overflowing so with so many exhibitors and visitors coming to town it was bound to be a problem but an event like this puts RUSHDEN on the map and the Town’s Mayor was pleased with the success of the event and said this Car Show was the best one ever.

Entry to the event was by voluntary donation and with the exception of a few, people, visitors were very generous so local charities will benefit once again from Rotary support.

Next year: same time, same place.
