Collection for Pakistan Flood Victims

A collection has been arranged at Morrisons to raise funds for the people suffering in this catastrophe
Pakistan has been hit by severe flooding affecting 33 million people,
over 15% of the population. Cost has been estimated at £8.5 billion,
with communities cut off, homes swept away by the torrential rainfall, leaving
a vast scale of destruction.
Shelterbox and Aquabox are in action, using local contacts to deliver
aid to those most in need.
"Shelterbox provides emergency shelter to
families who have lost their homes to disaster, enabling them to rebuild their
lives. ShelterBox began in 2000 as a Cornish Rotary Club’s millennium
project and, since 2012, ShelterBox and Rotary have been official
Project Partners in disaster relief. The aid to Pakistan includes tents,
water filters and carriers, mosquito nets, and solar lights."
"Aquabox is a charity which provides safe drinking water, through the use
of filtration units, and humanitarian aid to crisis zones around the world.
Originally established in 1992 by the Wirksworth Rotary Club, it is a
registered charity which is managed and run by the Aquabox Trustees."
"The Rotary Disaster Recovery Trust helps rebuild and restore communities in the medium and long term following natural disasters."
The Club is keen to get involved in helping with this disaster. We have decided to donate money to buy a Shelterbox, we are holding a collection at Morrisons on Saturday 1 October to raise funds, with a view to supporting Aquabox and also Rotary's own Disaster Recovery Trust (from which the picture shown has been shared)

The International Committee will continue to support specific projects as well as fund raising to enable the club to send funds to locations as and when needed, such as in emergency response situations.
