Rotary Supporting Ukraine

Over £37,000 raised to date to support Ukraine with medical supplies and housing.

Over the past few months, the Rotary Club of Guernsey has been working to help support the International Rotary Fellowship of Healthcare Professionals (IRFHP).  The Fellowship provides crucial medical services and supplies to those impacted by the war.  The main challenge is treating the many horrific war injuries, many of which have been suffered by children.

The situation is worsening day by day and the direct contact that the Fellowship has with those on the front line gives a harrowing picture of the scale of the humanitarian crisis.  Hospitals are full to capacity, a lot of the medical infrastructure has been destroyed and many patients are at risk of being left without access to medicine or care.

With no overheads or consultant fees, every penny the Rotary Club of Guernsey can send to the Fellowship will directly support frontline Rotarians working in their countries to help their own people.

For example, the type of equipment needed includes tourniquets, resuscitating equipment for babies, orthopaedic instruments and much more to help deal with polytrauma and with the care of those with chronic illness, cancer and disabilities etc.

Through its direct contact with supporters and members’ donations, the Club has already sent in excess of £37,000 (including a £10,000 donation to the Moshchun fund) to aid those affected by the war.

The Club is now having this collection to give the community the opportunity to also support the Fellowship.
