Over £500 pounds raised.

The Rotary Ride for Prostate Charities.

The Club held a Static Bike ride on Saturday the 24th of September as part of the National Rotary Ride 2022.

The ride was held to raise awareness of Prostate Cancer, its symptoms and to generate funds for Prostate Cancer Charities in the UK and Ireland, by way of sponsorship, personal donation, and a bucket collection from shoppers. The ride was held at the TESCO store Ravenside Retail Park.

There were two static bikes in operation with riders taking part in pre booked 25-minute sessions. Our challenge was to travel the greatest virtual distance in a day. Riders were entered into an individual distance competition. Luca peddled back-to-back sessions and averaged 12.5 miles in each and was awarded the trophy.

There was a 3rd bike for shoppers to take part in a competition to win a trophy for the greatest virtual distance completed in 5 minutes.  There were many challengers including Chris the Tesco Store manager and staff members. The eventual winner was Grace who clocked up 2.26 miles in the 5 minutes.

The Total distance covered during the day was 285 miles, the equivalent of riding from Bexhill to Manchester, with £532.24 raised in support of the charities.

The President and members of the Rotary Club of Bexhill would like to thank the manager and staff of Tesco Ravenside, its shoppers, the 1066 cycling club, cycling enthusiast friends and the owners of the bikes for their support and their generous donations.
