Monday 21st November saw the first of our two Youth Speaks competitions take place at Bishop’s Stortford College. This was the senior competition. Schools represented were Bishop’s Stortford College, Herts & Essex High School (two teams), The Bishop’s Stortford High School (two teams), St Mary’s Catholic School (2 teams) and St Nicholas School, Harlow.
Each team consists of a Chairman, Speaker and Vote of thanks. The subjects on which the schools spoke were varied: from ‘The Glamorisation of Crime’, ‘The World Cup in Qatar’, and ‘Q?’to ‘Why we should watch paint dry’, ‘Hair today, gone tomorrow’, ‘Is Capitalism a Slowly Crashing Plane’ and ’Why IKEA is the best shop!’
The 3 Judges - Pippa Ecclestone (Chair), Patricia Storey and Rosemary Thomson had a hard task choosing the winner, but, in the end, selected the team from Bishop’s Stortford College, comprising Henry Wilson, Rebecca Towns and Scarlett Kedadi, who received their trophy from President Jane Mitchell.
more Our 7th very successful Young Musician competition was held on 22nd April at Bishop’s Stortford College.
