Rotary Young Artist Exhibition

Showcasing young artists from the local area

Ormskirk Clocktower has been taking part in the Young Artist Competition for about 3 years, with a break for Covid.  We involve junior children who work on a theme set by the National Rotary.  This year it is “Rebuilding.”  The number of schools involved in the competition has gradually increased to the 13 local primary schools taking part this year. The competition takes place in the Autumn term with judging being done over the Christmas period.  Our judges are volunteers, often teachers with an expertise in art, although last year we had a professional artist as a judge.  There is usually a local exhibition of all the entries; this year we are working with Art students at West Lancs College to produce this, enjoying the collaboration that this involves. It will take place from 19th of February. It is lovely to see that our children are so talented as so far we have produced second and third place winners in their age group.

We are hoping for more success this year!

In 2023 Ormskirk Clocktower Rotary once again organised a local heat of the Rotary Young Artist competition. This year 9 schools from Ormskirk , Scarisbrick, Skelmersdale and Halsall took part in the competition. The theme for 2023 was ‘ Sunrise and Sunset’ and sixty primary aged children entered their fantastic artwork
The competition was judged by local artist Rebecca Atherton who carefully scrutinised each entry until a final winner was chosen and a display of the work was shown at the Chapel Gallery in Ormskirk.
