Thanks to Tesco and their Community Champion Pip Bennett who have again generously donated mince pies and raffle prizes for the Afternoon Tea and Christmas Day dinners - and they and the Co-op allowed us to bring Santa and hold our collections outside their stores.
We are very grateful to Lisa and family of the White Swan Hotel who prepared the food and helped serve it at the Afternoon Tea (they also cooked the Turkey for the Christmas Day meal). Rosalind Johnson and Chrissy Smith also helped serve the teas. We were entertained after the tea by a young, very talented Barton singer Poppy Frary and the Barton Ukulele Band who sang seasonal songs
Barton Rotary Club members and helpers cooked and delivered Christmas Day Dinners to elderly people in Barton and the surrounding villages. who were on their own or unable to cook a meal, Again thanks to those who helped to prepare and deliver the meals. The Pigs in Blankets and the Stuffing Balls were prepared and donated by Janet Knapton and the food was prepared and served by Janet and Jacquie Knapton, Clair, Charlotte and Isobel Clark, Liza Hinxman and Lisa Robson. Shoe-box full of gifts was also delivered with the dinners and these were given to us by the Grimsby charity “Not Home Alone at Christmas” who also provide a dinner for Senior Citizens. We were helped by a donation from Phillips 66 Humber Refinery.
Barton Rotary Club has done this every year since 1983. A special thank you to Trinity Methodist Church for allowing us to hold our events in the Lecture Hall and use their kitchen to cook the meals.
