St John's Hospice
An outline of what they do
We welcomed Karin Stennitt and Lisa Morgan from St. John's Hospice, Lancaster to our meeting on Thursday, 9th March. Karin is the fund raiser for the hospice and her talk covered much information about the work of the hospice, its staff and volunteers.
The hospice was built by the people, for the people to provide care for terminally ill patients. The hospice staff aim to provide compassionate care and support for patients and to help family members at a difficult time. The hospice with a staff of 60 nurses serves a wide area covering North Lancashire, South Cumbria and parts of North Yorkshire. They are rated outstanding by the Care Quality Commission. The Hospice at Home operates year-round with 31 nurses providing 24/7 respite care.
