Rotary Way has been named to commemorate the charity organisation's 100 years of service in Hartlepool. Alan Lakey, of Rotary Hartlepool, said "The main spine road at Hartwell Park has been named by the local authority Rotary Way to recognise the 100 years of service given to the community by Rotary Hartlepool. The Ceremonial Mayor of Hartlepool, Shane Moore, along with  some of his colleagues met with Rotarians of Hartlepool to congratulate them on achieving 100 years of 'Service Above Self' to the Community of Hartlepool."

Both sides of the wheel contain a message , with one the motto of the club 'Service Above Self' while the other says 'Rotary Hartlepool Wecomes You'

Hartlepool's Rotary Club first met in the town's Grand Hotel back in 1923 and went on to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for the community.

Celebrations to mark their centenary this year have included a gala charity dinner, tree planting and a charity art sale along with the naming of Rotary way.
