Beer Tasting - Prince of Wales, Foxfield

As instructed we reported promptly to the bar of the Furness Railway to order our tea( we were told that no food was available at Foxfield). We duly consumed our tea (an assortment of steaks, lasagne and three bean curries) washed down with a couple of ale samples before making our way to the railway station to begin our journey to Foxfield. For just over £3 we got return tickets to Foxfield and 20 minutes after joining the train, tumbled out onto the platform at Foxfield.A mere step from the station is the pub, a bit scruffy in the time honoured pub tradition, the owners concentrate on the product they sell, rather than the creature comforts in the place ! A large group quickly established themselves at a big corner table and the tasting began! The pub has a hugh range of ales, many brewed on the premises and some are eyewateringly strong!! Fortunately they are a very progressive outfit, selling pints, 1/2 pints and 1/3 pints (called nips). Geoff James and I opted for the nips and were pleased we did. It enabled us to try the majority of ales on offer,if I had to single out my favourites...Decadence a 6% composted ale was very good, full of flavour, also on a par was the  Medicine produced by the new Ulverston Brewing Company !
