The bulk of the money was raised by our Christmas Santa Sleigh Collection held in December outside Asda West Swindon, Morrisons Dorcan, and the Tesco Superstore.
In the pictures: representatives from the following charities at the meeting to receive their cheques in person.
In all, £4,500 was presented to these five charities.
“This donation will go towards providing bereavement support groups for children and young people within Swindon & Wiltshire. Whilst not every child who experiences a bereavement will need our support, when everyday life becomes a challenge, we are there to provide guidance and support in person to children and their families. The donations we receive are vital to the charity as we receive no statutory funding, and without them we would not be able to continue to support bereaved families. Thank you.” Sarah Bear, Wiltshire Treehouse.
“A big thank you Rotary Swindon North & Thamesdown from the Swindon Prospect Hospice for the donation you gave us on May 12th. As you know, hospices across the country (Prospect included) are in dire need of funding to support the incredible work they do, so your donation will help us continue this work.” Prospect Hospice, Wroughton
“We are a youth development charity supporting vulnerable 11-15 year olds in this area. Our outdoor adventure programmes and one-to-one support enable young people to build resilience, develop confidence and learn skills to help them face challenges and lead positive lives in the future. ‘Thank you for pushing me out of my comfort zone, for helping me try new things and for boosting my confidence,’ Zac aged 13. Thank you.” Natalie Levin, Youth Adventure Trust.
Additionally, two representatives from MIND, Motor Neurone Disease, North Wiltshire Association attended the meeting. Their charity received a cheque for the £875 we raised by means of the Quiz and Ploughman’s Supper we held in March.
Owens World Foundation was also one of the beneficiaries from our Christmas Sleigh Collection. In March we gave them £500 to purchase two Bleed Control Kits . Combating knife crime for a safer future
“These kits ensure the immediate implementation of bleeding control measures during emergency situations. The compact and portable nature of the bleed control kit enables rapid deployment in various settings. By including these essential supplies, we significantly increase the chances of effectively managing severe bleeding until professional medical assistance arrives”. Owens World Foundation, Swindon
