Here, where the main path is joined by the coastal path there is an example of the Cordyline australis (or Cabbage Palm), which was introduced probably about 1900 and is now quite common. Its survival shows how mild are Manx winters in comparison with inland districts of Britain. Its white flowers have a delicious bean fragrance and it sometimes sets fertile seed.
