31st Annual Charity Golf Day
We held our 31st Annual Charity Golf Day on Sunday 11th August at our usual venue of Penwortham Golf Club.
35 Teams competed on what was a beautiful day with glorious sunshine and little wind. The course was in excellent condition and thanks must go to the Greens staff and the Club for all their assistance in making the day so successful.
As in previous years there was a mix of abilities and mens, ladies and mixed teams. Special thanks goes to the 11 Sponsor teams who competed. The winners and results are displayed above.
In addition the Club must thank those organisations and individuals who sponsored a hole. Results of those gaining a bottle of gin for being nearest the pin are also displayed above.
Special mention must be made of Wayne Sumner, pictured above, who had a hole in one on the 15th Hole, who was suitably reward with a bottle of Scotch and a dozen golf balls !
Over the past years James Hall & Co - Spar have provided the refreshments for distribution at the Half Way Hut and this year was no exception with ample supplies of chilled water, hot & cold drinks and a range of cakes made available. Anything left is distributed to the Salvation Army for its use.
As a Charity fund raiser event early indications suggest that over £4,000 has been raised for the Club to distribute to local, national and international charities
The Club thanks everybody for their support and looks forward to next years competition programmed for 10th August.
