Senlac Classic Car Show - 16 June 2024

Sun, Jun 16th 2024 at 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Thank you to everyone who attended the Senlac Classic Car Show. You can see the photos and read all about here.

The sun shone on Father’s Day, 16 June 2024 and lit up the Rotary Club of Senlac’s 29th Classic Car Show and Country Fayre which was held at the Rye Rugby Club in East Sussex.

The Mayor of Rye, Cllr Andy Stewart, officially opened the show and spent the day wandering the cars and stalls. The day saw the arrival of over two hundred classic cars and nearly forty craft and charity stalls to entertain the many visitors. The eclectic mix of cars and motorcycles from across the ages included a 1934 Austin Seven, a 1948 Armstrong Siddeley Hurricane, a 1966 Jaguar S Type and a 2015 Dodge Challenger. The motoring fraternity, a close-knit group of enthusiasts, were highly complementary about the show, its new home and the organisation provided by the Rotarians. Children were not forgotten and enjoyed a number of rides throughout the day.

This year’s event has provisionally raised £9,500 which will be distributed to local good causes including Rye Relief in Need, Chestnut Tree House and Senlac Rotary’s YellowMen Project in Kenya.

Dave Miles, the organiser, was pleased with how the show went; ”It’s our 2nd time at Rye Rugby club; it was better than last year with more public attending as the word had got around and we had one of the best mix of cars we have ever had. We are planning a better show for next year with more interest and entertainment for everyone to enjoy and we will certainly be learning from this year’s experiences. We couldn’t put on such a show without the help of other people and I’d like to thank friends, relatives, the 1066 marshalls, our sponsors, particularly the Mermaid Inn and Fitzgraham Solicitors, advertisers, exhibitors and Rye Rugby Club for hosting the event. We will be back on Father’s Day next year, 15th June 2025”
