Youth Speaks 2024/25

Rotary’s Youth Speaks contributes to improving young people’s oracy skills. Students from local high schools competed in the heats of in November at Balshaw’s High School. Click on details for more information and the results.


This competition provides young people with experience in speaking on a public platform as part of a team where they can practice high standards of expression, presentation and appearance. 

The local heats took place at Balshaw's High School, Leyland in November, and the winners will now compete against other teams from the north-west in the New Year.  There are two age categories - Intermediate (11-13) and Senior (14-17).  Teams of three are made up of a Chairperson, Speaker and Vote of Thanks proposer.  Teams select and research their own topics and must be prepared to answer questions about their subject matter.

Intermediate 

1st:  Broughton High School - Topic:  Screen Time for Young People
