The Rotary Club of Whitby & District is delighted to announce that Isaac Lumley and Lola Walley have taken 1st places in the Junior (under 10 yrs) and Senior (14-17 yrs) categories of the Regional Final of the Rotary Young Photographer Competition 2024-25


Regional wins for local youngsters in photo competition

The Rotary Club of Whitby & District is delighted to announce that Isaac Lumley and Lola Walley have taken 1st places in the Junior (under 10 yrs) and Senior (14-17 yrs) categories of the Regional Final of the Rotary Young Photographer Competition 2024-25.

The aim is to encourage young people to experiment with different techniques and express their ideas through the medium of photography.

Young photographers from all over Yorkshire took part by submitting their best photo to the competition that captured the theme ‘Wonderful Water’.

Isaac and Lola will now progress through to the National Final, which will be held in May 2025.

Isaac's description of his winning photograph: - ‘Water is my sport; water is my life’

Lola's description of her winning photograph: - ‘My photo depicts the elegant juxtaposition of small effects of simple nature acting on greater bodies of water resulting in a delicate picturesque image which we often take for granted’.

Young Photographer is just one of the many activities which The Rotary Club of Whitby & District runs to help young people develop their skills. These include Young Artist, Young Musician, Public Speaking contests and the Rotary Technology Tournament.
