Group Study Exchange Team from District 9200 Tanzania
At our evening Meeting in April we were privileged to welcome the Group Study Exchange Team from District 9200. This District covers 5east African countries: Kenya, Tanzania, Ethopia, Eritrea and Uganda: whichhosts120 Rotary Clubs with a membership of 38,000.
The Team [ rather tired andstilladjustingtoourintemperatetemperatures]were ; Sam Bwaya [Team Leader] a Senior Audit Manager from Kampala Uganda, Margaret Githaiga who works in Banking from Nairobi Kenya, Samantha Mwesigye a Lawyer with The Ministry of Justice from Kampala Uganda and Prossy Najjuma a Human Resources Manager in a Hotel from Kampala Uganda.
This District covers a very culturally diverse area, a population of some 200 million people who speak 300 different languages. The main ethnic groups are Arab, European and Asian. The population itself is divided 52% female, 48% male; 85% rural and 15% urban. Agriculture is the main occupation of this District, especially the growing of coffee, tea, sisal and animal husbandry [particularly cattle, but not as we know them!].
Rotaract is very active in this District, there are many community projects particularly with a focus on the provision of clean water and sanitation. Through Rotaract there are many opportunities for networking, fellowship and FUN!!
We thank this Team for a highly informative evening with a lively and interesting presentation and we hope that through our brief fellowship together there might be the opportunity for our Club to become involved in a project in District 9200.
