Talk by a Thames Lighterman

The Rotary Club of March was treated to a talk by Ron Rowlands a retired Thames Lighterman. Mr. Rowlands, who began his career in 1955, explained the difficult role he played in transporting items such as sugar, maize, wheat and tea by tug towing barges up the River Thames.

Mr. Rowland's talk was puctuated with many anecdotes of a humorous and in some cases a tragic nature.
He was thanked by Rtn. Peter Bennett.
