A Triumphant March Rotary Club Team returned from the District 1080 Quiz finals at Soham on the 30th March, clutching the coveted shield, having convincingly beaten nine other finalists in this revived competition. The 2nd time the Club has achieved this in recent years.

An East Anglia wide General Knowledge Quiz, with 80 Clubs eligible to take part, this had reduced to 10 teams by knockout competition. The March team, with Captain, John Orbell, faced opposition from clubs far and wide, such as Norwich, Letchworth, Stowmarket and Diss.

With 10 rounds of eight question, plus a Ding Bat picture quiz, early results were disappointing for March team, only 11 points being scored in the first 2 rounds, but as the evening progressed the questions ran in their favour, but with consistent high scores in subsequent rounds, it was all down to the last.

The final score of 136 points gave a jubilant March Team a 5 point lead over joint second, Woodbridge Deben and Diss. Supported by President John Lattimore, and his Wife Sheila, he received the Trophy on behalf of the team, John Orbell, Alan Burdass, Mike Calvert, Ross Davies, Peter English, and Robert Freeman, from Rotary GB&I Assistant Governor, June Snowden
