Safelocaltrades.com is the brainchild of Eilene LeVoi, and Winner of the Best New Business Idea 2008, in the Peterborough Enterprise Program. Offering the public in the PE postcode area advise and information on businesses and tradesmen who provide services to chiefly householders. Be it a Builder, Gas Fitter, Carpet Cleaner, or any one of a 100 everyday problems, that require professional skills, Eileens web site lists only five tradesmen in each category.

The idea for this very helpful advise, came about though such T.V. programs as Rogue Trader, Cowboy Builders, etc. Asking the Members at March Rotary Club on Monday evening, 10th October, how they found craftsmen to carry out work beyond the scope of D.I.Y. most said, by recommendation from friends. But often the requirement by individuals households, may be beyond the experience of family and friends. So where does one go for independent, trustworthy, and honest advise. To Eileen's web site.

There are circa 125 traders listed, all of whom have been personally interviewed, and vetted by Eileen, for specialist qualifications and skills, insurance, and a host of other minor things that add up to a specialist who will do exactly what they promise. On completion of any job, no matter how small, the client is invited to provide answers as to the quality, standard, and satisfaction of the finished work.

A points system is then awarded to each listed tradesman, so future clients can judge for them selves, if the business suits their requirement, and thus feel safe employing a local trade.

Question time, brought a host of questions, often about members personal experiences, with door to door cold calling. In the Vote of Thanks by Senior Vice President , Ross Davies, he said only good could come out of this public service, available on the web, or freephone, 0800 014 1832.
