Rotaract

Rotaract : What's it all about?

Rotaract is an organisation for 18-30 year olds with clubs throughout the world. It enables members to meet people, try new activities, and make a difference in their local community.

Community : Rotaract clubs carry out at least one community service project a year in an effort to improve the lives of people around them. The possibilities for worthwhile projects are endless. In Rotaract District 1190 examples of projects undertaken are:- Painting a number trail in a local Primary School, taking under privileged children through Blackpool illuminations, hosting Senior Citizens Christmas parties and recording Talking Newspapers for the Blind.

Fundraising : many events that are undertaken by Rotaract help to raise funds and awareness of local and international causes.

Self Development : Every Rotaract club has a formal structure involving a committee of elected officers and members. These roles provide the opportunity for self-development in the areas of financial management, organisational skills, public speaking, interpersonal communication leadership, and team building. Rotaract helps its members to gain the tools and skills necessary to develop into responsible, productive members of society.

Socialising : Each club organises its own social activities, which range from a drink in a local pub, ten-pin bowling, or maybe a meal or theatre trip. Within our district, joint events are held with neighbouring clubs. These can be a theme disco, a quiz night or a dinner dance. Some nationalRotaract events are also organised. There are currently about 1,500 Rotaractors inGreat Britain and Ireland, giving the opportunity to meet lots of new people.
