Fenland Music Concert

King Henry VIII would have been well pleased with the rendition of his
favourite composition 'Pastime With Good Company', as would Lennon and
McCartney with a spirited 'Hard Days Night'. These were just two item from
the very well balanced and played program at the Music Concert, given by
Fenland and East Cambridgeshire Area Academy on Saturday evening 24th March,
at St Peter's Church, March.
This annual event, supported and promoted by The Rotary Club of March,
offered a feast of fine music to suit all tastes, played by young people
from across The Fens. Audience numbers attending were a little down on last
year, but those who did certainly had value for money.
The varied musical styles were Brass, Wind, Percussion, Strings, Swing,
Youth Orchestra and the Senior Band. John Philip Sousa rubbed shoulders with
Handel, Dvorak, Tchaikovsky, Holst and James Horner's Theme from Titanic.
All profits from ticket sales, raffle, and refreshments, will go the Music
Academy to support their tuition throughout the year. Hannan Caller
organised the musical side, while the whole of the March Rotary Club looked
after front of house management.
At conclusion Rotary President John Orbell thanked everyone for attending,
and confirmed the Clubs commitment to the worthy event in the future.
