Young Technology Competition

 

This competition is gaining in popularity with schools throughout the district.  Headteachers are keen for their Schools to take part as the competition embraces the Curriculum for Excellence for Schools. The assistance and encouragement from Craft and Design Teachers has been overwhelming as they see the Competition as a challenge to the development of their pupils.

Although the Competition ticks all the boxes for academia it is primarily meant to be fun for all the participants

 

The Competition is sponsored by the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) who view this as an opportunity to encourage youngsters in secondary school to consider following an engineering career by participating in local design build and test competitions.

 

A brief outline of the Young Technology Competition is listed below: -

The competition takeas place on Wednesday 6 March.

Each team will consist of 4 students and if possible should have an even gender balance. The year groupings of the students are for each school to decide. It could be all team members from the same year group or a mixture.

Basic Tasks are for students in Years          S1- S2

Intermediate Tasks are intended for            S3 - S4

Advanced Tasks are for students in years   S5 - S6

Students are expected to work in teams and will be assessed on:
