Martin McElhatton

Martin hails from Bedfordshire and joined British Airways as an Engineering Apprentice in 1977.  An accident on the way to work took Martin to Stoke Mandeville for rehabilitation and introduced him to wheelchair sport.
 
Martin played for Great Britain in the 1984 Paralympic Games in Wheelchair Basketball and also in the 1986 World Championships and 1987 European Championships.

Martin is Chairman of the National Wheelchair Tennis Association of Great Britain and President of the International Wheelchair Tennis Association and member of the ITF Wheelchair Tennis Committee having played and coached wheelchair tennis for over 25 years.

Martin is Chief Executive of WheelPower - British Wheelchair Sport at Stoke Mandeville where he has worked in a variety of roles since 1987.
