L-R Rtn George White, Petty Officer Scott Barnes, Pres. Ross Davies

Guest for the first meeting of the Rotary Club of March in 2013 was Petty Officer Scot Barnes.

A man of March, as a youngster he had a Saturday job at a shop, owned then, by one of the March Rotarians present upon the evening of the 14th January.  He was introduced by his Uncle, George White.

Now after many years serving his Country, he has latterly been on board a Royal Navy Mine Sweeper. He explained the role these ships play, being just one of the seventy operational vessels in the Fleet.

Active service in Combat came his way in both the Gulf of Hormuz, and the Libya conflict. Now approaching retirement from the Senior Service, his duties are in Recruitment, which seems to offer young men and women a worthwhile career.

Rotarian Mo Sharma gave a Vote of Thanks, having seen this Gentleman mature from a teenager to his now respected position in Society.
