The origins of the Braw Lads’ Gathering go back at least to 1599 when the town was granted its charter as a Burgh of Barony
This gave the town the right to hold festivals and markets, the Rotary Club was told by Gordon Keddie and Johnny Gray. During the 1800s, there were events in March, midsummer and November
