Paul Harris Fellowship awarded to David Bruce

David Bruce of the Bruce Trust was awarded Rotary's highest award at a dinner at Dennison Barracks on Monday 24th June.

At a dinner at Denniston Barracks, Hermitage,outgoing President, Roy Wood, presented  a Paul Harris Fellowship Award to David Bruce of the Bruce Trust for his work in establishing The Bruce Trust in 1988 to provide holidays and day outings for disabled, disadvantaged or elderly people and their carers. The Bruce Trust is a registered charity which provides purpose-built, wide-beam canal boats on the Kennet and Avon Canal from two bases, for hire for self catering holidays. Many of the day outings are organised in conjunction with local Rotary Clubs including Newbury. As well as being the founding trustee for The Bruce Trust, David is also currently Vice-President of The Kennet & Avon Canal Trust.

This prestigious Rotary award is given to those who have made an outstanding contribution to the community, both within and outside Rotary. It is.the highest award of recognition in Rotary and is named after the founder of Rotary International.
