A presentation by Charlotte Darlow Fund Raising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support

On Monday the 12th August the Rotary Club of March were given a presentation by Charlotte Darlow the Area Fund Raising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support.

After being introduced to the Club by Rtn. Nick Kime Charlotte explained that one in three of us will get cancer and it's the toughest thing most of us will ever face. If you've been diagnosed with cancer, or a loved one has, you'll want a team of people in your corner supporting you every step of the way.

and Macmillan Cancer Support will provide practical, medical and financial support. The number of people with cancer is growing every day and the aim is to reach and improve the lives of every one of those people.

Charlotte went on to explain that Macmillan works in partnership with other organisations, including Boots the Chemist, to achieve its aims and that it campaigns for better cancer care.

All this is achieved thanks to loyal and committed supporters, over 98% of their income in 2012 came from voluntary donations and fundraising. There is a very active and successful local fund raising Committee covering March and Chatteris which last year raised around £18000 and at 11 am on Sunday 8th September in aid of its fund raising efforts it is organising a 5km walk starting and finishing in West End Park in March.

After a question and answer session Rtn. John Orbell thanked Charlotte on behalf of the Club and presented her with a donation of £50.
